Karimunjawa (Karimunjava) is an archipelago of islands in the Java Sea, Indonesia, which approximately are include in Jepara, East java. The islands' name means 'a stone's throw from Java' in Javanese. Karimunjawa have the main island known as Karimun (2,700 ha), while the second-largest island is Kemujan (1,400 ha).
Karimunjawa today have been a national marine park of Indonesia. Twenty-two of the islands have been declared 2001 as a marine reserve, the Karimunjava National Park.
Based on the legend, Karimunjawa found by Sunan Muria. Sunan Muria ordered his son to go to an island which seems "kremun-kremun" (fuzzy) from the top of Mount Muria, so he could deepen and develop his theology. Because it looks "kremun-kremun", then the island called Karimun Island.
